Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):

Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Business Administration, finance or related fields and two (2) years of full-time experience working in a financial environment. In lieu of degree, four (4) years of full time experience working in a financial environment, or a combination of higher education and experience totaling four (4) years may be considered. Proficiency with Microsoft applications including Outlook, Excel and Word.

Preferred Qualifications:

Clinical Trials/Research finance experience. Experience working with WolfMart and/or OnCore.

Brief Description of Duties:

At Stony Brook Medicine, the Cancer Clinical Trials Research Financial Assistant, under the supervision of the SBCC Clinical Trials Office's Research Sr. Financial Analyst, will play a vital role within the Cancer Center's Clinical Trials Office by supporting the pre-award and post-award management of cancer clinical trials. Incumbent will support the Cancer Clinicial Trials Finance operations in its goals to facilitate the development of robust, compliant clinical trial budgets as well as the execution of post-award tasks to ensure timely receipt of clinical trial revenue. The ideal candidate will possess excellent written and communication skills and demonstrate the ability to work with minimal supervision and function independently on a daily basis. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with investigators, research staff and institutional leaders in research related units. By demonstrating solid knowledge of financial management and/or accounting principles completes the following duties:

Duties:

* Ensures accurate invoicing of internal cost centers and sponsors utilizing both electronic systems (i.e. OnCore) and legacy systems.

* Ensures research billing compliance.

* Responsible for facilitating and documenting deposits on a routine basis.

* Performs monthly reconciliations of study accounts managed by Stony Brook Cancer Center Clinical Trials Office and monitors study account activity to ensure income and expense are within budget.

* Orders research required clinical trial supplies for the study team and creates reports and fiscal summaries for leadership.

* Responsible for initiating payments for clinical trial patients (travel reimbursement, hotel, meals, etc.).

* Facilitates purchase orders as needed.

* Assist the Finance team in Monitoring the financial system for compliance and system integrity.

* Ensures compliance with federal, state, and institutional policies governing clinical research finance.

* When needed, assists with Developing and managing complex study budgets ensuring accurate inclusion of study personnel, patient care services, research related procedures/supplies, indirect costs, and start-up costs are accounted for.

* When needed, assists with reviewing clinical trial agreements to identify language relating to clinical trial office deliverables (i.e. data entry timelines)

* As a team member, provides input to identify, develop and implement processes and procedures to streamline efficiencies. Working with leadership, develops and/or updates standard operating procedures to guide the clinical research finance unit. Actively participates in staff/team meetings and communicates budget/contract updates.

* Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.
