Position Statement:

This part-time individual (Bilingual English/Spanish) oversees the Changing Futures waiting area while the Community Coordinator is in session. This includes answering calls, greeting and directing participants, and managing behavioral expectations of children and parents. They will also act as a member of our Rape Crisis Program team which requires responsiveness and follow through via assessment or refferal when callers or walk-ins identify need for services or support related to sexual violence.

This staffer is expected to be professional and enthusiastic, organized, punctual, and have a friendly demeanor, and be able to efficiently multitask. His/her disposition should be consistent with patience, relatedness and calm, especially with young people.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Greet, direct and assist all visitors; Answer and direct central switchboard calls.
  • Manage reception area during high volume periods; Alert therapists of late/absent clients, etc.
  • Provide as needed childcare support in the waiting area when adult caregivers are in session; engage children in appropriate play as possible.
  • Provide administrative backup and outreach support to the Community Coordinator, such as collecting forms, distributing outcome surveys, announcing upcoming program events and sharing resources with visitors, etc.
  • Conduct general clerical duties including maintaining necessary inventory of office supplies and the maintenance/security of the office environment and equipment
  • Support the Program Director and Community Coordinator with managing the petty cash log and purchase order binder and log.
  • Provide on-call, as needed coverage when the Community Coordinator is out or has a change in schedule.
  • Support Community Coordinator with data entry via Google Suite and Salesforce.
  • Participate in Rape Crisis Program team meetings to ensure effective and efficient services provided to callers or walk-ins.
  • Coordinate with the Community Coordinator and members of the Rape Crisis Program team when callers or walk-ins identify need for services or support related to sexual violence. This may include conducting assessments to better understand the caller or walk-ins needs and obtaining guidance from the Community Coordinator or member of the Rape Crisis Hotline team, as needed.
  • Attend a 40-hour New York State 40-Hour Rape Crisis Counselor Training
  • Other duties as assigned.

Hours/Schedule:

  • Monday through Fridays 2-5pm, or 3-6 pm; Saturdays 10am-4pm or 10am-6pm
  • 20 hours weekly

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • Bilingual Spanish required
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Some child care experience is helpful
  • Familiarity with Google Suite and/or Salesforce is helpful
