Overview:
The BIS will be responsible for the clinical training, oversight, and overall behavioral support for campers and camp staff. Works directly with Camp Loyaltown administration to provide proactive behavioral supports during the camp season and during respite weekends on the off season.
Camp Loyaltyown BIS will be stationed at Hunter, NY, from May until September. Off season may be located in either Hunter or Long Island, September-May. Assist with Respite Coverage (at Hunter, NY) at least once a month during the off season.

- Provide on-site direct clinical interventions and modeling of proactive positive behavioral supports (during camp months and respite weekends)
- Participate in gathering behavioral information, assessing needs of the camp applicants.
- Perform needed assessments, such as Functional Behavior Assessments
- Design or modify existing Behavior Support Plans to better meet campers needs.
- Provide hands on staff training in the principals of Positive Behavioral Supports and individualized camper Behavior Support Plans
- Participate in regular supervisory contact with Director of Behavioral Health Services (clinical oversight) and with Camp Associate Director for day to day operations
- Monitor campers progress according to support plans and make modifications as needed
- Provide crisis intervention supports as needed
- Participates in team meetings, case conferences as needed
- Maintains clinical documentation and completes periodic reviews
- Provide behavioral support coverage/assistance for Respite weekends on a monthly basis, at minimum
- Performs all other duties as requested by supervisors.
- Adheres to Federal and New York State regulations, agency policy and procedures, the employee handbook and agency and program training requirements.
- Ensure that work-related safety procedures are in place and are being adhered to by staff. Observance of an unsafe act or a potentially hazardous work environment must be immediately reported to supervisor and/or safety committee.
- Provide agency wide training at new hire trainings in Positive Behavior Supports and other areas determined by the Psychology and Training departments. Receives training for agency SCIP-R instructor and maintains certification on annual basis (teach one 3 day full SCIP-R course and 2 recertification trainings per year).
Qualifications:
- BA in a psychology related field required. MA/MS preferred.
- Previous experience working with children and/or adults with Intellectual and Developmental disabilities; crisis intervention experience preferred.
- Camp experience a plus.
- Qualified Driver license is required.
Physical Aspects may include but are not limited to lifting and transferring of an adult/child participant. BIS will also assist with transportation, i.e., driving an agency vehicle
