Automation & Controls Support Manager (Fully Remote) Adaptec Solutions is a top-ten, North American integration partner engineering diverse material handling and automation solutions with lifecycle service support for manufacturing, distribution, and warehousing companies.JOB SUMMARY:Reporting to the VP, Lifecycle Services, this position is an important customer facing role and part of the Lifecycle Services team. The role can be located at any of our (4) facilities or remotely. The position is responsible for supporting advanced technical support on robots, automation systems, controls and programming for Adaptec and non-Adaptec products. This role will provide advanced technical advising to our internal and external customers. This role will also have a dotted line to sales and will seek to garner additional automation service business. The following are key areas of focus:Serve as advanced robotics, automation & controls technical mentor for Adaptec Solutions field service techniciansProvide on the job training to new or less experienced field service technicians in the areas of robotics, programming, controls and other advanced technical supportProvide on-site advanced technical servicesProvide advanced remote technical support to customers and techniciansSolicit new business in the automation service spaceIt is expected that the incumbent will be a strong team player and will work collaboratively with all employees. This position has the following direct reports:This role has responsibility for supporting efficient and timely resolutions of advanced automation support requests with existing customers and internal stakeholders.This position will work closely with Engineering , the Regional Managers and Service Administration team to resolve customer issues ensuring a superb customer experience.This position will support engineering builds and installations where needed for complex knowledge support.This position will work closely with sales on new service business opportunities in the automation and controls space.JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Monitor robotics, automation and controls tech support requests ensuring swift resolution and coordinationProvide advanced robotics, automation and controls technical advising to Adaptec Field Service TechniciansProvide in depth details of Robotics, automation & controls repair quotes to the support teamProvide quotes on robotics, automation & controls to customers in coordination with Regional ManagersSupport our customers and technicians on complex technical issuesServe as advanced systems Technical Trainer to Adaptec employees and customersWork in collaboration with Regional Managers and Service Coordinators to support customer needsProvide advanced technical advising to customers when neededPerform complex robotics, automation and controls service repairs and routine maintenance at customer sitesWork with Regional Managers to expand robotics, automation and controls service in every marketWork as liaison between Service and Engineering to support both departmentsEDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:Two-year college technical degree in Automation Maintenance or Electrical Technology or equivalent experience.Bachelors degree in engineering management or technical management preferred but will consider work/military experience in lieu of a four-year degree.A minimum of five years experience in automation support environment.Experience selling services and negotiating maintenance contracts in an automation environment.Two years of training experience.SKILLS AND CHARACTERISTICS NECESSARY TO PERFORM THE JOB:Computer proficiency including word processing, spreadsheets, and generating reports using standard software applications.Strong knowledge of field service principles and practices, customer requirements and technician requirements.Knowledge and understanding of preventive maintenance programs, OSHA regulations, customer protocols and repair processes and procedures across automation product lines.Analytical, critical thinking, negotiating, managerial, organizational, decision-making, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills.Working knowledge of industry field service and installation processes and requirements.Ability to read plans, specifications, and schematics.Demonstrates organizational and project management skills, including ability to set and manage multiple priorities, and to set and meet deadlines.Excellent written and oral communication skills to interact with diverse internal and external groups.SKILLS AND CHARACTERISTICS NECESSARY TO PERFORM THE JOB, cont.Detail oriented demonstrating an ability to capture all the key information daily to develop and maintain strong training programs.Knowledge in Basic Equipment and Machinery.
