The College of Nursing at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Associate Professor (12-month). The successful candidate's duties will include:

* Clinical teaching and supervision of students in areas of specialization including doctoral level courses.

* Implements the College's philosophy, curriculum, program outcomes, and course objectives through expert teaching.

* Assumes responsibility for all autonomous aspects of individual teaching assignments.

* Uses innovative, active learning strategies in the classroom and beyond.

* Plans clinical and simulation experiences for and provides direct supervision and evaluation of students delivering nursing care, as needed.

* Advises students in area of doctoral work; mentors' students in evidence-based research and scholarship.

* Evaluates and provides documented feedback on students' performance.

* Is available for remediation of students as required or needed.

* Orients and maintains current knowledge related to agency/clinical policies and procedures.

* Grades homework, quizzes, tests, lab assignments, clinical paperwork and other written work in a timely manner.

* Reports to the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Community Partnerships.

* Directs research of other teachers or graduate students working for advanced academic degrees.

* Conducts research and publishes findings in professional journals.

Required Qualifications:

* Doctoral Degree in Nursing

* National Certification

* Minimum of five years teaching experience in academia and minimum eight years of clinical practice experience in area of specialization

* Teaching experience in Doctor of Nursing Practice education

* Evidence of current scholarship

* Evidence of national prominence in nursing

* Experience in curriculum development

Preferred Qualifications:

* New York State APRN License

* Excellent communication skills

* Evidence of independent and collaborative research and extramural funding/ Leadership/management experience in academia, professional and community organizations
