Job Description Key Accountabilities The ideal candidate will have 2-4 years of experience in a leveraged finance, loan or bond capital markets, loan negotiation, or financial sponsors role at an investment bank or lending platform. Backgrounds with similar skill sets that have exposure to LBO financings and private credit will also be considered - trading desk research, distressed investing, CLO/BDC, direct lending, transaction advisory, etc. The expectation is to work on portfolio company financings (both debt and equity) and the associate will be working on multiple deals at any given time. Day-to-day, the associate will assist the Capital Markets team in a variety of core capital markets responsibilities, including: market research / deal-specific intel, providing structuring guidance to deal teams (RFPs, term sheets, credit agreements, intercreditor, etc.), driving syndication processes (including working with investment banks, law firms, and prospective investors), proactively working with the company management and deal teams to optimize the capital structure, and preparing for and executing monetization activities. In summary, the associate will be intimately involved in various aspects of deal structuring, deal execution, relationship management, and various ad hoc projects. Responsibilities Deal Execution
  • Coordinate transaction structuring / early read process
    • Provide support for structuring inputs on early reads
    • Assist with preparation of RFPs to potential lenders
    • Draft capital markets portion of investment committee memo
  • Help manage outreach and communication with potential financing sources / relationship lenders
  • Execute external debt and equity financing, including debt capital market issuances, bank financing, and public equity market financings
  • Review legal documentation in concert with internal and external counsel throughout the negotiation process
  • Review Lender Presentations, Confidential Information Memorandums, Offering Memorandums, etc. for distribution to potential investors
Portfolio Management
  • Partner with the rest of the deal team and company management to proactively design financing strategies support the growth and capital strategy of the company
  • Constantly and strategically think of ways to improve portfolio companies / investments' capital structures
  • Monitor debt and equity trading levels across the portfolio and identify opportunities or issues
  • Prepare for and provide both verbal and written market updates to senior management
  • Work with portfolio companies and investor relations team on presentations to support BPEG investor outreach on both an ad hoc basis and for conferences, investor days, etc.
  • Help the broader Capital Markets team manage Brookfield's relationships with banks, lenders, and other external parties
Data Management
  • Assist in upkeep of an investor database with commitments across BPEG
  • Track interactions with investor, bank, and direct lender contacts
  • Manage capital markets deal pipeline and portfolio company updates
  • Record fees paid and syndicate economics for various types of transactions

Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably with a major in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related financial discipline with an outstanding record of academic achievement
  • 2+ years of related experience
    • Leveraged loan and high yield experience preferred at a credit fund, finance company, commercial or investment bank, hedge fund, BDC or mezzanine fund
    • Formal credit training preferred
  • Ability to effectively communicate with senior management internally and externally
Salary Range: $125k - $175k Our compensation structure is comprised of a base salary and a short-term incentive program (cash bonus). Cash compensation tends to vary based on geography to account for local market conditions and is set to be market competitive.
