PURPOSE: The Legal Team is seeking a U.S.-based Associate General Counsel to support our U.S. business. The selected candidate will play a key role in providing support for Berry Sales, Procurement, IMS, Finance, Operations, and other Berry teams in their ongoing contract, property and other commercial matters. Responsibilities Provide support and partnership across all Berry divisions with legal needs in the U.S. Handle contract, lease, and NDA reviews and negotiations; and business counseling. Collaborate with members of the Legal Team to implement a global framework for the delivery of legal services to support Berry's global business. Work closely with members of the Legal Team to develop a best in class team which partners with the business in a timely and effective way to drive profitability, business growth, and success. Engage in continuous learning of the business through formal and self-directed activities. Collaborate with the Legal Team to identify, develop and implement forms and processes to improve the efficiency of handling internal legal matters. Partner and communicate with all levels of the business, including the executive staff. Identify and analyze risk and communicate the same along with mitigation activities to the appropriate levels of the business. Assist in the management of outside counsel who are handling legal matters to ensure overall quality and value of legal services. Qualifications The successful candidate must have a law degree with qualification to practice law in any U.S. state. 2-4 years of experience, with experience in a corporate in-house position preferred, though not required. Experience handling contracts, property, and other commercial matters. Ability to develop strategic partnerships with leaders at all levels of the organization. Excellent organizational and communication skills; a desire to learn; and a commitment to the highest ethical standards. Demonstrated ability to resolve complex legal issues in compliant, but also creative, business friendly, and cost-effective ways with an appropriate sense of urgency.
