ASSOCIATE EXECUTIVE DIRECTORJob Title: Associate Executive Director FLSA Status: Exempt Job Grade: ExemptReports to: Executive Director Revision Date: Aug 2023POSITION SUMMARY:Oversees the assigned operations of the Genesee County YMCA branch, including health and wellness, marketing, childcare programs, volunteer and staff development, financial development, community relations and collaborations with community agencies. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • In conjunction with the Executive Director, directs the operation of the Genesee County YMCA. Provides oversight for all assigned departments and program areas.
  • Supports all financial development activities of the branch.
  • Represents and promotes the YMCA in the local communities and develops positive working relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental entities. Develops, maintains, and models collaborative relationships with community agencies in service delivery area.
  • Oversees the hiring, training, and supervision of assigned staff and conduct all appropriate staff trainings, meetings, and evaluations.
  • Develops, manages, and monitors assigned branch operating budgets and meet or exceeds budget targets.
  • Supports branch strategic planning efforts and assists the Executive Director in developing the annual operating plan of the branches.
  • Develops and directs high quality relationship-based member engagement strategies. Models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions with staff, volunteers, members, and the community.
  • Ensure the branch financial assistance/scholarship records are appropriately maintained.
  • Fosters a climate of innovation to develop member-focused programs which support the Y mission, goals, and strategies at both branches.
  • Assists in ensuring the safety and maintenance of high quality facilities, grounds, and

  • Serves as a member of Y senior management team and supports the overall objectives of the YMCA.
  • Assists where needed with the Genesee County YMCA capital project.

  • Bachelor's degree in human services, social services, business or equivalent.
  • Five or more years of management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency.
  • Ability to direct total operations through volunteer development, supervision of staff, development and monitoring of branch budget, marketing and public relations, and program development.
  • Experience in management and development of volunteer involvement; ability to recruit top community leaders.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Proven track record of developing authentic relationships with others.
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
  • YMCA Multi-Team or Branch Leader certification preferred.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications required.
