Job Description:

As a division of Quality and Safety, Data and Analytics (DnA) strives to empower NYC Health + Hospitals and its partners with data and digital tools, AI capabilities and insights to drive quality and performance improvements, support enterprise operations, and enhance patient outcomes. The DnA effort optimizes the data governance infrastructure and utilization of data to drive decision-making and System-wide innovation.

Reporting directly to the Chief Data Officer (CDO), the AVP will Collaborate with senior DnA leadership to define organizational goals and objectives related to data and AI. This role will engage in business case analysis and will be responsible for overseeing the strategic planning, vendor selection and product development process, and the successful launch of data and AI products/solutions, ensuring alignment with business objectives, and driving high value impact to H+H. Additionally, she/he will be driving operational excellence, streamlining workflows, and ensuring alignment with strategic goals.

General responsibilities will include:

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute the organization's Data and Analytics vision and strategy, aligning it with business goals and priorities.
  • Collaborate with the executive leadership team to identify opportunities for data-driven innovation and competitive advantage.

Operational Leadership

  • Lead strategic direction and oversight for DnA operations, including finance, human resources, administration, and project management.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to track operational performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Product & Portfolio Management

  • Oversee the entire lifecycle for data and AI products and services, from ideation to launch and beyond.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to define product requirements, prioritize features, and drive product development.
  • Oversee the entire DnA portfolio, evaluating the performance of existing products and solutions, making recommendations for enhancements, updates, or discontinuations to optimize services and support.

Team Leadership

  • Assess the current organizational structure and propose recommendations for sustainable long-term improvements.
  • Implement comprehensive training programs to enhance the proficiency of the existing workforce in cutting-edge data and AI knowledge, concurrently augmenting the team's capabilities by recruiting new product managers.
  • Provide mentorship, coaching, and guidance to team members, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Partnership and Collaboration

  • Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with technology vendors, academic institutions, and industry organizations to drive innovation and stay abreast of best practices in data and AI.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including IT, legal, compliance to ensure successful integration of data and AI solutions across the organization.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. A Master's degree in hospital administration, health care planning, business administration, public administration or an approved related program and seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in health and medical service administration, public administration, n, personnel and labor relations, finance or appropriate functional discipline with an emphasis on planning, liaison and interorganizational relationships, or related administrative or managerial functions; or

2. A Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in health and medical service administration, public administration, personnel and labor relations, finance or appropriate functional discipline with an emphasis on planning, liaison and interorganizational relationships, or related administrative or managerial functions; or

3. A satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training and experience. However, all candidates must have a minimum of a Bachelor s Degree.

Department Preferences

  • 10+ years of experience in data and/or information technology
  • 10+ years of experience in the health care industry
  • Proven experience (7+ years) in senior leadership roles within the analytics and/or healthcare industry, demonstrating strategic vision and impactful decision-making.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • Proven track record of leadership and success in data and AI strategy, product management, and team management.
  • Extensive experience in developing and implementing data and AI solutions in a corporate or enterprise environment.
  • Strong business acumen and strategic thinking, with the ability to translate business objectives into actionable plans and initiatives.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive change, influence stakeholders, and champion data-driven decision-making.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
