We are actively seeking an Assistant Vice President, Operational Risk to join our esteemed Risk and Credit Group. The Operational Risk Management team is eagerly seeking an individual with a fervent passion for constructing and executing robust risk frameworks across our business landscape. Beyond oversight, those with a penchant for innovation will flourish in this role. Engaging with stakeholders spanning various business areas and departments, this position offers invaluable exposure to C-level leadership throughout the organization.
Responsibilities Will Include, But Are Not Limited To:
- Crafting and enhancing operational risk management frameworks and enterprise risk programs.
- Identifying opportunities for process refinement and incident management
- Collaborating with the VP of Operational Risk to co-manage and mentor junior team member(s)
- Championing value propositions and implementing best practices across diverse business lines.
- Providing feedback on policy updates associated with regulatory items necessitating remediation.
- Offering independent oversight and credible challenge to the first-line across all operational risk management activities.
- Partnering with business experts in our diverse business lines and departments to facilitate the RCSAs.
- Collaborating with first-line business areas to establish KPCs directly aligned with key risks identified in the RCSAs.
- Generating action plans and reporting issues utilizing GRC tools
- Leading and maintaining reports from Management Risk Committees
- Undertaking other duties as required and assigned.
Required Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university required, preferably in Business or related fields.
- 7+ years of experience in Risk & Credit preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a financial institution covering ORM components including end-to-end RCSA management such as KRI/KPIs
- Series 7 License preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills and relationship management with a demonstrated ability to navigate challenging situations, disagreements, and negotiations across various organizational levels.
- Proficiency in MS Office skills (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint) with the ability to streamline data, design, and standardize risk reporting.
- Experience with GRC tools.
- Proficiency in establishing frameworks in accordance with industry best practices.
- Knowledge of compliance laws, FINRA rules & regulations, risks, and controls.
- Excellent writing and communication skills with keen attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks concurrently, sometimes within tight deadlines, without compromising accuracy or efficiency.
- Strong decision-making and analytical skills, coupled with problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
- Self-driven with the ability to work independently.
- Desired background in Financial Services, Operational Risk Management, and Finance.
