Role SummaryThe Real Estate Americas business is seeking to hire a senior associate for the Southeast investment team in the New York office. The investment team covers roughly 140 office, retail, multifamily and industrial investments valued at approximately $18 billion in fair market value. A successful candidate will oversee a portfolio of assets and drive value to our clients. Individual in this role will need to be able to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, manage a team of analysts, show leadership in all aspects of the deal, including negotiating documents and understand key business and legal terms and communicate them as appropriate. Job Responsibilities Client focus - a successful candidate will be able to successfully collaborate with internal stakeholders, including their market counterpart, research team member, financial group, development and engineering group member, capital markets, debt capital markets and sector strategists. In addition, a successful candidate will be able to successfully collaborate with external stakeholders including brokers, service providers, partners and competitors. The candidate would also strive to maintain and create a positive reputation for the firm within the broader industry. Business results - a successful candidate will be able to master the market and show creativity with that knowledge, including understanding the macro environment that influences the real estate fundamentals and pricing. In addition, the candidate should be able to succinctly articulate the investment thesis and asset performance and strategy, supported with facts. Building consensus - the successful candidate will build internal consensus on asset strategy through proactive communication with all constituencies (including the CIO, portfolio management, research, valuation, financial, debt capital markets and development/engineering). A successful candidate will work with the market team counterpart to be a force in the market and understand and communicate their market. Diligencing transactions - the successful candidate will lead due diligence teams and coordinate seamlessly with portfolio management, asset management, development/engineering, debt capital markets, valuation, financial and other teams (including outside counsel and third-party consultants) to identify and resolve diligence issues. The vice president will be responsible for anticipating and responding to the challenges of due diligence, for identifying solutions that drive transactions to closing, for organizing and coordinating closing. Negotiating transactions - the vice president will take the lead on transaction negotiation and documentation. The successful candidate will negotiate with a focus on identifying and mitigating risk, and will generate creative solutions to resolve structuring challenges. Cultivate leadership and team building - the successful candidate will exhibit leadership in partnering with other internal teams, and in developing junior team members. He or she will consistently strive to gain the confidence of senior team members, including portfolio managers and senior asset managers.
