Job Description:

Our customer, a multinational investment management company, is looking for an Asset Management Attorney.

Duration: The anticipated duration is 6 months, with the possibility to extend. This is an approximately 40 hours per week, 5/days week, 3 of which are physically in the office.

Location: NYC/partially remote.

Summary

This role will primarily involve assisting in completing fund subscription documents on behalf of Private Equity Group (PEG) clients and managing ongoing know your customer and anti-money laundering requests and other related processes associated with the investment by PEG's clients into third party managed private equity fund investments.

Key Duties

The ideal candidate will be responsible for critical deal execution matters, including completing subscription booklets, investor questionnaires and related information on behalf of PEG s clients. The candidate would also assist with responding to ongoing AML/KYC requests from underlying private equity managers regarding PEG clients. The candidate will be engaged with the business directly in real-time, often with immediate or quick turnaround required. This role will generally not include legal drafting, memo writing, research or in-depth legal analysis.

Qualifications:

  • Law degree and licensed to practice.
  • Some relevant law firm or in-house experience, primarily in the private investment funds space.
  • Familiarity with private fund rules including under the Investment Company Act (e.g., 3(c) (7) exemption, accredited investor / qualified purchaser rules) and standard documentation particularly subscription agreements and investor questionnaires.
  • Previous experience performing subscription booklet review at a similarly sophisticated financial services institution, alternatives manager, or law firm preferred.
  • Familiarity with financial services and heavily regulated environments preferred.
  • Basic familiarity with registered investment companies and associated requirements helpful but not required.
  • Strong work ethic, high-level organizational skills, and ability to work independently and to manage a large volume of transactions and internal client questions simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented and results driven.
  • Adaptability and ability to apply existing skills to unfamiliar subject matter areas.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word.
