We have a thriving AEC practice with a close-knit, team-oriented group that is growing rapidly. Due to our success, we need an Asbestos Technician to assist with the delivery of our current extensive backlog of work. This backlog includes tasks associated with construction and capital improvement projects for MTA agencies including New York City Transit and various infrastructure improvement projects for New York government agencies such as NYCHA and DASNY, as well as work sharing with other STV Offices.

What we are seeking:

MTA Title - Technician

STV Title - Environmental Scientist

This role emphasizes field work, asbestos and lead survey, asbestos and lead monitoring, and abatement report writing, with the ability to develop both professionally and personally. The ideal candidate is self-motivated with a solid technical foundation allowing them to work independently. STV's culture promotes exposure to and interaction with multiple design disciplines within a healthy work-life balance.

The successful candidate will have 2+ years of asbestos and lead experience. Relevant experience includes:

* Perform asbestos and lead surveys and inspections.

* Perform abatement oversight, air sampling and project monitoring.

* Prepare abatement daily logs, chain of custodies, photo logs and reports.

In addition, the candidate should possess a strong technical inclination, be self-motivated to take ownership of challenging problems, and possess excellent written & verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities:

* Perform asbestos and lead surveys and inspections.

* Perform asbestos and lead air sampling and project monitoring.

* Interact with engineers, architects, asbestos and lead abatement contractors.

* Prepare survey reports, daily logs, chain of custodies, photo logs and abatement reports.

* Flexible and able to be on-call for night work and weekend work.

Qualifications:

* 2+ years of relevant asbestos and lead survey and monitoring experience with knowledge of NYSDOL asbestos regulations and OSHA lead standard.

* MTA - NYCT Experience

* NYSDOL Asbestos Inspector, Air Sampling Technician and Project Monitor certification.

* SSPC C3 Lead Supervisor certification.

* Demonstrates excellence and efficiency in writing, communication, data analysis, professional judgment, and knowledge of regulations.

* Strong quality assurance/quality control skills to perform technical, style and consistency reviews.

* Self-sufficient, self-motivated and ability to work under pressure of deadlines is essential.

* Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and organizational capabilities.

* New York State Driver's License.

Preferred Qualifications:

* New York State agency, DASNY and NYCHA Experience a plus.

* NYCT, LIRR, MNR, SIRTOA Track Training.

* Bachelor's Degree.
