  • Fully competent architect who can independently perform a variety of assignments requiring skills in all conventional aspects of architecture for projects of moderate size and complexity.
  • Performs analyses of design, planning, and occupancy studies, and limited design layouts.
  • Prepares project specifications, compiling and analyzing relevant data.
  • Writes reports and specifications. Reviews completed reports, plans, estimates, and calculations.
  • Responsible for specific technical design aspects of an assigned major project, including investigation, evaluation, and recommendation of design solutions that best meets the client's needs.
  • Provides professional architectural consultation in the planning, designing, and coordinating of large complex projects by conceptualizing solutions that address project goals, functional requirements, and user needs.
  • Carries out complex or novel assignments requiring developing new or improved techniques and procedures.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced colleagues.
  • Collaborating with clients, stakeholders, and project teams to develop design concepts that align with project goals and objectives, design criteria, and client vision.
  • Assist in producing architectural drawings, including plans, elevations, sections, and details, using relevant software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit).
  • Contribute to creating 3D models, renderings, and visualizations to communicate design ideas effectively.
  • Participate in design discussions, brainstorming sessions, and design charrettes to contribute innovative solutions.
  • Select appropriate materials, finishes, and construction methods that align with design intent, sustainability, and project constraints.
  • Assist in preparing and presenting design proposals, client presentations, and project documentation.
  • Monitor project schedules, budgets, and resources to meet project milestones.
  • Participate in site visits and inspections to understand construction progress and address design-related challenges.
  • Stay informed about emerging industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in architecture and design.
  • Conduct employee reviews.
  • Direct team members and review their work.
  • Manage design and production teams for commercial/retail projects, including sub-consultants.
  • Coordinate submittal of construction documents for governmental review, distribution of bid documents, addenda, and construction change directive processing.
  • Coordinate and integrate MEP, structural, and other engineering considerations into design development.
  • Ensure compliance with building codes, regulations, and industry standards throughout the design and construction phases.
  • Contribute to business development efforts through client meetings, proposal preparation, and presentations.
Skills Knowledge and ExpertiseMinimum Qualifications
  • Registered Architect.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in architectural design and project leadership.
  • Advanced understanding of building systems, construction methodologies, and industry regulations.
  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality, complex architectural projects from concept through completion.
  • Strong design sensibility and the ability to contribute creative ideas to design discussions.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and coordinating project teams, including mentoring junior staff.
  • Demonstrated expertise in using architectural software tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, and SketchUp.
  • Possess a strong work ethic and an eagerness to learn to take on new challenges in a fast-paced design environment.
  • Experience with site verification, design/planning, documentation, and construction administration.
  • Experience coordinating Architectural, MEP, Structural, and Civil disciplines.
Preferred Qualifications
  • LEED AP+.
  • 2+ years of Project Management.
  • NCARB certification.
  • Retail and multi-site project experience.
  • Retail prototype experience.
  • Experience processing entitlements and permit approvals in jurisdictions throughout the US.
  • Management experience of direct reports.
  • Involvement in professional organizations.
