Role: Application Engineer

Industry: Smart Grid

Location: NY, NJ, MA, CT or Philadelphia (Remote + occasional travel)

Salary: $140K-$160K + 10% bonus + equity

This is a great opportunity for an Application Engineer to join a market leader in the Microgrid space that have raised $500M+ in funding! This company build cutting-edge microgrid solutions and have a fully integrated distributed energy platform focused on designing, implementing and financing innovative distributed clean energy solutions.

This role reports directly to the CTO and is a key position as they grow! You will provide key engineering support for their distributed energy and microgrid projects, scoping out and managing different power loads to support clients. Their microgrid projects consist of a variety of DER assets including, solar, battery and generators. You will also work with switchgear manufacturers & OEMS to develop innovative designs and costing that is scalable!

Responsibilities :

  • Communicate technical information to all aspects of the business and to customers.
  • Work with Business Development teams to evaluate to develop the right technical solutions.
  • Ensure the integration of the Microgrid is technically correct, practical and cost effective.
  • Work with existing service entrance one-line drawings, or creating new ones, to provide the best design interface for functionality and cost.
  • Work with switchgear manufacturers & other OEMs (Schneider Electric) to develop innovative designs and costing that are scalable to many jobs and customer sites.
  • Provide significant input to the solar, battery, and generator designs to optimize performance, reliability, and sustainability for each customer site.

Requirements :

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (preferred) or Mechanical Engineering
  • 4+ years professional experience with Commercial Solar, BESS or Generator projects
  • 3+ years experience low-voltage systems
  • 4+ years professional work experience in the microgrid/smart grid/energy storage space
  • Strong experience managing entire microgrid/smart grid projects varying in power levels.
  • Knowledge of emissions from the utility side as well as each of the DER's.

Nice to have:

  • Masters in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • PE in power or progressing towards that license
  • Experience interconnecting DER assets to utilities
  • Experience with medium-voltage systems
