This position will be responsible for conducting various laboratory tasks related to the chemical characterization of polymeric systems. This role will be responsible for routine testing and method development primarily utilizing Spectroscopic Techniques as well as maintaining several instruments and other laboratory equipment and supplies.
- Prepare samples, collect and interpret various spectroscopic (FTIR, NIR, UV-Vis, optical) data for customer support, technology-development, and non-standard manufacturing requests.
- Report key findings to colleagues via written reports and oral presentations and documenting results using data management systems.
- Execute planned experiments using advanced techniques, such as variable-temperature IR, LC-IR, and photoacoustic IR.
- Conduct routine instrument maintenance, schedule preventative maintenance, and perform general lab support activities.
- Support other techniques and their workload (e.g. NMR, chromatography, microscopy, elemental, wet chem) by working closely with team members.
- Provide diagnostic support to Manufacturing QA labs by troubleshooting existing methods and assisting in the transfer of new methods.
- Develop and implement new methods as needed, including for non-routine techniques.
- Own and lead all safety activities related to spectroscopy, including relentless attention to safe laboratory practices and conditions, Management of Change (MOC) procedures, Safety Risk Assessments (SRAs), and proper chemical management.
