**Airport Operations Center (AOC) Shift Supervisor (Job No. N-2022-1)**
**Location:** JFK Intl Airport Traffic Operations Center
Estimated annual Salary of $73,000 $79,000
**Responsibilities:**
The JFK AOC is to operate 20 hours per day, 7 days per week. An AOC Shift Supervisor must be on-site for each shift of the AOCs operating hours (4:00AM 12:00AM, Monday-Sunday). The Shift Supervisor position will be the point of contact at the AOC for the respective shifts. The Shift Supervisor will be expected to be knowledgeable in traffic data analysis, traffic flow, maintenance of traffic design and implementation, and traffic incident management. Shift Supervisors may be required to stay or work remotely for additional hours based on traffic conditions and/or late flight arrivals/departures or on specific days of increased travel volumes or a large operational change to the roadway network.
* Coordinating with other agencies as necessary (i.e. PAPD, Port Authority Operations, MTA)
* Determining appropriate mitigation measures to optimize traffic flow and communicating these to PAPD in field
* Assess expected passenger volumes, daily events, and pro-active mitigation measures to create a daily plan
* Ensuring that proper contacts are made and protocols are followed during incidents
* Leading communication with outside entities, especially during heightened landside congestion levels or busy airside traffic days
* Coordinating with and disseminating information to AOC Operators
* Participate in construction progress meetings to coordinate traffic operations
* Continually evaluating impacts of construction activities and identifying potential conflicts
* Adjust AOC procedures based on construction activity, new roadway configurations, or modified operations
* Following the SOP and any other approved Guidelines
* Providing input on updates to SOP.
* Creating DMS messages to be shared with operators, facilities and partner transportation agencies
* Entering real-time closure information and hazard information into Waze
* Monitoring the AOC email inbox and replying to email messages as necessary.
* Overseeing and training AOC Operators
* Ensuring quality control of work done by AOC Operator
* Performing all functions of the AOC Operator, as may be needed for coverage
**Desired qualities of a Shift Supervisor:**
* Bachelors Degree and three years of experience in traffic operations/traffic management field
* Background in traffic operations and knowledge of traffic management
* Professional demeanor and the ability to interact with stakeholders both in-person and over the phone
* Experienced with Microsoft Office suite (particularly Excel)
* Experienced with traffic analytic platforms (i.e. Synchro, TACTICS, etc.)
* Familiarity with regional transportation network
* Possess problem solving, critical thinking and analytical skills
* Good oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
* Ability to remain composed during stressful situations
* Strong leadership, mentoring and teambuilding skills
