Principal Responsibilities:As a Special Needs after school counselor, you will be responsible for providing support, guidance, and a safe environment for children with developmental disabilities during the after-school hours. Your primary goal is to facilitate their social, emotional,and cognitive development through various activities while ensuring a positive inclusive experience. Responsibilities of the counselor include but are not limited to:
- Counselors are responsible for 1-2 children on a daily basis.
- Counselors must ensure the children's safety, manage children's behavior, and act as a role model and mentor.
- Model constructive participation in all daily activities.
- Work closely with the senior counselors to ensure safety of all children.
- Counselors must be at least 17 years of age.
Minimum Qualifications:Minimum Qualifications:
- Language skills: ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from supervisor, senior counselors, co-workers, and parents.

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to recognize and respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency situation.
- Ability to adequately observe participant activities, enforce safety regulations, and apply appropriate policies and procedures.
- Ability to work both indoors and outdoors, different temperature extremes, and be physically able to take children to indoor and outdoor activities and engage with them.
- Required to stand, walk, kneel, or crouch. Additionally, employeemay also climb, push, pull, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to get into the swimming pool during pool hours (for the camp season).
