Overview
The After-School Aide will help children develop various social and interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities
- Assist other staff members in the pick-up of children from the local public schools and accompanying them back to the Center.
- Review children s homework assignments and assist them in completing them correctly.
- Keep accurate records of children s assignments and progress.
- Inform Director of any concerns (social, academic, etc.) of the students.
- Provide tutoring to students when necessary.
- Assist and/or organize games, crafts, and other recreational activities.
- Supervise children to and from park, playground, field trips, etc.
- Keep accurate records/tracking slips, attendance, lunch counts, etc.
- Maintain proper staff-to-student ratio at all times.
- All other duties as directed by Corps Officer and/or Director.
Qualifications
- At least a Junior or Senior in High School with an outstanding academic report.
- Maintain an A or B average in his/her own academic reports.
- Be able to walk to and from schools (in assisting with school pick-ups).
- Be able to work outdoors for recreational activities.
- Be flexible to assist the Director and/or other staff in any necessary tasks.
- Must understand and support the mission of The Salvation Army.
Effective November 1st, all staff working in a licensed childcare center will be required to provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or undergo weekly COVID-19 testing, per NJ Executive Order 264.
