Location remote Description Emma Willard School seeks enthusiastic and dedicated teachers to work as Adjunct Music Instructors in the areas of woodwind and percussion during the 2021-2022. The Applied Music Program offers instrumental and vocal lessons. The teachers must be able to teach a rangeof students from beginning to advanced levels and have experience in preparing students for NYSSMA festivals. The instructor will work with the applied music director and the music faculty to ensure an integrated and cohesive music program. The candidate will be encouraged to use creative and innovative teaching practices as well as flexibility for scheduling lessons. This person will demonstrate a commitment to bringing out the absolute best in each student and open collaboration with colleagues. Position Purpose / Expected Results: The position would require teaching across multiple levels and collaborating regularly with the music faculty. They will be responsible for attending to each students ability and guiding consistent progress. Dedication to the holistic wellness of students is essential, as is ability and comfort in frequent communication with students advisors and director of the applied music program. II. Key Areas of Responsibility: Create a schedule of lessons for the semester for each student in the areas of woodwind/brass. Guide students through appropriate repertoire for their level of ability. Offer substantive feedback within a timely manner Keep accurate records of attendance Compose student comments quarterly or as assigned Provide individual support to students as needed Communicate with students advisors, parents, and/or houseparents as appropriate Collaborate with the director of the applied music program on preparing students for recitals and performances. Be a positive force in the lives of students III. Minimum Requirements / Qualifications / Competencies: Hold a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Music or related field Have a minimum of two years of teaching experience Be a strong advocate for all-girls education Have a strong desire to contribute to a collaborative music program Have a good working knowledge of Google, Microsoft Word, comfort with online learning-management systems, and enthusiasm for experimenting with learning technologies Have patience, enthusiasm, and the ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines Demonstrate a commitment to professional growth and development Demonstrate superior judgment Preferred Qualifications / Competencies: Advanced degree in Music or in education preferred Knowledge and experience of how to teach high school students online
