SUNY Ulster Adjunct InstructorPart-time Starting August 2024Application Deadline: Open Until FilledPriority Screening: May 27, 2024 at 4PM ESTPosition Summary:SUNY Ulster County Community College, a two-year branch of the State University of New York located ninety miles north of New York City in the Catskill Mountains, is currently accepting applications for an Adjunct Instructors to begin in August 2024.Under the supervision of the area coordinator and academic department, adjunct instructors will provide instruction in accordance with established course syllabi and departmental and college policies. Courses may be taught either day or evening on the SUNY Ulster main campus in Stone Ridge or at the SUNY Ulster Kingston Center on Mary s Avenue in Kingston. The College also seeks instructors to teach at the Shawangunk Correctional Facility in Wallkill, NY. SUNY Ulster is currently soliciting applications for a number of part-time adjunct teaching positions for the upcoming Fall 2024 Semester in the following general areas: Developmental and college-level mathematics (MAT095 through MAT160) Earth sciences (ESC101/ESC102) Economics (ECO101/ECO102) English composition (ENG101/ENG102) Psychology (PSY101 and above) Sign language (SGN110/SGN113/SGN114) Sociology (SOC101 and above)Course descriptions in the college catalog at .Duties and Responsibilities:
  • A commitment to meet during each scheduled class session and to teach or conduct learning exercises for the entire time period.
  • To provide each student, and the academic department, with a Course Outline derived from the official course syllabus at the beginning of the course. The outline will include contact information, topics covered, and information about how the student will be assessed as per departmental guidelines.
  • Accurately keep required class records on attendance and grading and submit when required.
  • Comply with all institutional and departmental policies, procedures and deadlines.
  • Give careful attention to all departmental and administrative communications by checking SUNY Ulster email frequently.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • A Master s degree in an appropriate field.
  • The abiility to teach in-person at one of the physical campus locations.
And
  • Commitment to community college goals and objectives of providing quality programs and services for culturally, socio-economically, ethnically, and academically diverse students and students with disabilities; personal qualities to work effectively and with sensitivity in a multicultural environment; awareness of and commitment to the needs of non-traditional and/or re-entry students with diverse abilities and interests.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Teaching experience in the community college setting.
  • Experience with the Brightspace course management system.
