Position OverviewThe Staff AM Design Engineer will leverage their experience in design, development, and manufacturing to provide our customers with innovative solutions. Collaborating with the engineering and manufacturing teams, this role will devise solutions utilizing additive manufacturing that solve our customer s greatest challenges. The Staff AM Design Engineer will interface with customers to collaboratively engineer their parts in a rapidly changing environment. Reports to:Director of Engineering and Operations Responsible for:Responsible for considering and anticipating the end-to-end additive manufacturing process in the design and engineering of additive hardware.Responsible for collaborating across teams to ensure the on-time delivery of parts.Responsible for engaging customers in a consistent, professional manner which encourages collaboration and long-standing customer relationships.Responsible for developing and applying methods and techniques for design and build optimization on additive parts.Responsible for adhering to company safety policies. Job DutiesEngage with customers to explore and understand their needs for additive manufacturing production solutions.Develop engineering design and manufacturing solutions according to customer's needs.o Design Engineeringo Structural / Thermal Analysiso Additive Manufacturing Simulationo Distortion CompensationLeverage, facilitate, and organize cross-departmental teams for development of new applications, processes, testing, or other related project initiatives.Research new AM technologies and methods, request quotations, select vendors, issue requisitions, schedule demonstrations, and provide technical recommendations.Stay current with industry trends and market information.Maintain an understanding of client business challenges; demonstrate breadth and depth of knowledge to position and map capabilities that align to client business objectives and initiatives.Actively seek-out various educational and training opportunities to keep current with the latest technological advances in AM and demonstrate continuous growth.Help to define, develop, and document Morf3D s AS9100 quality processes and procedures.Other duties may be assigned to support the business. SkillsCandidate shall be a mechanical engineering professional experienced in design, manufacturing, materials and processes, handling, and creation of designs/drawings, configuration management, BOM management, materials selection and finish requirements.Operational know-how of a variety of aerospace related additive manufacturing systems, supporting equipment and processesClear communication of technical issues related to manufacturing and engineering design.Expert level knowledge of Siemens NX, and Simcenter FEA.Working knowledge in Structural Analysis and Computational Fluid Dynamics.Hands-on technical manufacturing experience (CNC, Heat Treat, Assembly, Surface Treatment, NDT, and other special processes)General understanding of materials science as related to additive manufacturing (thermal-mechanical influences, materials behaviors, microstructural tendencies, chemical compositional requirements, laser-powder interactions)GD&T proficiency (dimensioned drawings)Ability to read and interpret specification requirements.Knowledge of Aerospace Quality Standards and Documentation RequirementsMust work well in a hands-on setting, maintaining a collaborative spirit.Excellent and direct communication - both written and verbal with customers, suppliers, and management Education / General RequirementsREQUIRED: Bachelor s Degree, Engineering (Mechanical or Aerospace)REQUIRED: 10+ years of experience in aerospace design engineering, and manufacturing or 7+ years with a relevant master s degreeREQUIRED: To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations applicants must be a US Person (US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card Holder) per ITAR regulations defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)REQUIRED: The applicant must currently hold or be able to obtain with company sponsorship, a DOD secret clearance.
