  • The Accountant 2 - Project Accountant II role involves providing crucial accounting and financial reporting augmentation support during a university-wide ERP implementation project period.
  • This position requires specialized analytical skills utilizing various reporting tools such as SUNY Bl, Tableau, OBIEE, Microsoft Excel, and Access.
  • The incumbent will collect, analyze, and develop data related to the Budget, Financial Planning and Analysis Office, Accounting Office, and the University, with the ability to make informed recommendations.
Minimum Education:
  • B.S. or B.A. degree in accounting, with a C.P.A./C.M.A. preferred.
Work Experience:
  • Experience in GAAP financial reporting and internal controls.
  • Experience gathering, analyzing, and evaluating complex information in accounting information systems (PeopleSoft).
  • Experience data mining with large data sets.
  • Minimum of 5-8 years of accounting experience preferred.
  • Augmentation and project backfill work experience preferred.
Job Duties:
  • Provide essential accounting and financial reporting augmentation support during the university-wide ERP implementation project period.
  • Ability to learn quickly and efficiently to allow current staff time to focus on ERP implementation.
  • Perform specialized analytical duties using reporting tools such as SUNY Bl, Tableau, OBIEE, Microsoft Excel, and Access.
  • Collect, analyze, and develop data related to the Budget, Financial Planning and Analysis Office, Accounting Office, and the University, and provide informed recommendations.
  • Perform operational accounting duties within the Accounting Office using various reporting tools.
  • Provide accounting support to multiple functional areas including Cash, Revenue, Expenditure accounting, etc.
Preferred Skills:
  • C.P.A./C.M.A. certification preferred.
  • Augmentation and project backfill work experience preferred.
  • Proven proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Excel with advanced formulas and functions.
  • Highly motivated and detail-oriented investigative thinker.
  • Strong customer service orientation with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Quick adaptability to changing priorities.
  • Excellent analytical and critical problem-solving skills.
Miscellaneous Information:
  • Shift Days/Time: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM
  • All temps can park in any faculty/staff parking lot free of charge with faculty/staff hang tag that will be provided on the first day on-site.
  • LIRR transportation are in close proximity to worksite location.
  • Work Site: 100% On-site preferred, but open to remote if the right candidate is available.
  • Overtime is potentially expected.
  • Training will be provided to selected candidate.
  • Interview will take place via Zoom with hiring manager.
