This position serves as a key agent in promoting equality, empowering advocates and contributing to the accessible experience for all members of the SUNY Morrisville community.Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Knowledge of relevant laws (ADA, 504, IDEA, FHA) effecting Students with Disabilities in the Higher Education setting;
  • Engage in the interactive process with students to evaluate requests for accommodation
  • Responsible for the ongoing oversight and implementation of reasonable accommodations and other supportive resources;
  • In collaboration with the Director, audits current policies, procedures, practices and systems to determine efficiency and effectiveness;
  • Responsible for supporting strategic planning and monitoring overall accessibility of the campus;
  • Provides oversight of the Testing Center and supervision of the student team members of the ASC;
  • Manages confidential student data base, reports metrics as requested;
  • Assists with interventions and decision making in consultation with the Director and serves as the Director's designee when needed;
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments concurrently; ability to work collaboratively and foster effective relationships across campus;
  • Experience in expanding the use of software and emerging assistive technologies to enhance student success and access;
  • Participate in outreach to new and prospective students and families regarding processes and procedures of the ASC;
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to maintain current knowledge of higher education law, state and federal laws, student learning research, theory and practice to help serve the needs of the students;
  • Other duties as assigned, required to support and bring to fruition the mission of the ASC and SUNY Morrisville.
Requirements: Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Disability Studies, Counseling, Higher Education Administration, College Student Personnel, Psychology, or related field
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience working with people with disabilities in student affairs, accessibility services, disability services, human services, social work or related field.
  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft products); understanding of data collection, and assessments; Superior communication and soft skills - oral and written; excellent customer service skills; and a commitment toward institutional effectiveness.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Disability Studies, Counseling, Higher Education Administration, College Student Personnel, Psychology or in a related field
