Job Description

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage day to day operations of the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

General tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • In the absence of the CDEIO, direct DEI Sr, Managers and interns.
  • Support DEI communications, gender equity, language access, health equity, and project management leads. Lead internal collaborations to integrate DEI practices into core people practices and standard work across the System in alignment with the integrated DEI strategic business framework and roadmap.
  • Utilize DEI research to develop evidence-based initiatives; addressing DEI gaps and improvement benchmark other organizations and industries to identify applicable best practices.
  • Develop, launch, and execute DEI strategies, programs, and initiatives that align with the strategic priorities of NYC Health + Hospitals.
  • Establish internal collaborations to integrate DEI practices into core people practices and standard work across NYC Health + Hospitals in alignment with the integrated DEI and NYC Health + Hospitals framework.
  • Develop, collect, analyze, interpret & report on DEI metrics to determine program effectiveness, track progress and identify opportunities for continued organizational development.
  • Provide overall guidance and direction of employee resource groups (ERGs), spearheading the development and growth of the groups and their sponsors (inclusive of infrastructure, growth, ROI and budget management) to ensure ongoing, lasting impact.
  • Identify and build relationships in the DEI community, (workforce, patients, and communities) focusing on promoting and enhancing inclusion and diversity.
  • Contract management/monitoring supporting DEI initiatives
  • Conduct research and analysis to identify and address DEI gaps and remain current with trends.
  • Maintain community partnerships and host virtual/live events for external partners and employees.
  • Provide subject matter expertise, strategic planning, change management, thought leadership and partnership to drive business outcomes.
  • Other duties as directed by Chief Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer.

* This is a hybrid position (One day remote) that requires ability to travel to all NYC Health + Hospitals sites.

Minimum Qualifications

1. A Master's degree in hospital administration, health care planning, business administration, public administration or an approved related program and seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in health and medical service administration, public administration, n, personnel and labor relations, finance or appropriate functional discipline with an emphasis on planning, liaison and interorganizational relationships, or related administrative or managerial functions; or

2. A Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in health and medical service administration, public administration, personnel and labor relations, finance or appropriate functional discipline with an emphasis on planning, liaison and interorganizational relationships, or related administrative or managerial functions; or

3. A satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training and experience. However, all candidates must have a minimum of a Bachelor s Degree.

Department Preferences

  • Master s degree in DEI, Organizational Development I/O Psychology, human resources, or a related field, Or equivalent experience.
  • PhD in Organizational Development, Behavioral Science, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
  • 7 years of experience in DEI work, (language access, gender equity, health equity) or equivalent HR Business Partner experience with demonstrated success in leading and/or actively participating in Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion initiatives.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Work independently, as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Demonstrated experience with diversity and inclusion processes within a large, matrixed organization.
  • Strong written and oral/expressive communication skills for meeting facilitation and deliverable development.
  • Able to build strong networks and effectively engage and manage stakeholders including the ability to drive, steer, convince and influence others.
  • Strong customer focus and commitment to employee/community, and patient satisfaction through prioritization, quality, efficiency, and professionalism.
  • Results driven- demonstrates ownership and accountability and delivers on commitments.
  • Strong Project Management experience with proven ability to drive a project from beginning to end with high customer satisfaction.
  • Demonstrated cross-cultural competencies, including strong emotional intelligence and the ability to engage and build relationships at all levels within the organization.
  • Proven ability to perform effectively in a dynamic environment with changing workloads
  • Demonstrated ability to work with many cross-functional internal and external partners, in a matrix environment with a high sense of urgency
